Accelerator ZDC, with the chemical name diethyl dithiocarbamate zinc, also known as accelerator EZ or ZDEC, has the molecular formula C10H20N2S4Zn and a molecular weight of 361.91. This substance is a white crystalline powder, with a melting point of 179-181℃, a density of 1.48g/cm³, and is soluble in organic solvents such as benzene and dithiocarbon disulfide, but insoluble in water and gasoline. The dust can form explosive mixtures with air. It is irritating to the skin and eyes, but is suitable for food-contact grade rubber products.

Properties

White powder (granule). Density is 1.41. Soluble in 1% NaOH solution, CS2, benzene, chloroform, slightly soluble in alcohol, insoluble in gasoline.

Application

Used for NR, IR, BR, SBR, NBR, EPDM and their latexes. A fast curing primary or secondary effective ultra-accelerator for natural and synthetic latex form compounds. Can be used advantageously for dipped, spread, and cast goods. Similar in property that of Accelerator PZ. Has less resistance to scorching than Accelerator PZ and shows a slight tendency to premature vulcanization. An antioxidant in adhesive systems.It is used as a accelerator for latex, with a reference dosage of 0.5 to 1.0 parts. It is also used as a modifier for hot melt pressure-sensitive adhesives and hot melt adhesives. Due to the generation of harmful nitrosamines, it can be replaced by zinc dibenzyl dithiocarbamate (DBZ).
