Stearic acid is the most commonly used general-purpose activator in rubber processing. It is characterized by low cost and high compatibility. Unlike specialized activators, it has multiple functions including activation, lubrication, and plasticization, with excellent cost-effectiveness. It is made from natural oils through hydrogenation, fractionation, and refinement, and comes in white or slightly yellow waxy particles. It has no obvious odor and is soluble in hot ethanol and vegetable oil, but insoluble in water. It has excellent compatibility with various rubbers, vulcanizing agents, and accelerators, and is widely used in the processing of various rubber products such as tires, rubber hoses, and seals.
