Description

CIIR 1338 is a chlorinated butyl rubber (chlorinated isobutylene-isoprene copolymer), a type of halobutyl rubber manufactured via chlorination modification of regular butyl rubber. It is supplied in pale yellow solid bales packed in transparent polyethylene film. This grade features a controlled chlorine content and well-balanced molecular weight distribution. Compared with conventional butyl rubber, CIIR 1338 retains the outstanding gas tightness of butyl rubber while possessing significantly improved curing compatibility with general rubbers, faster cure rate and excellent adhesion properties. It is a versatile raw material widely adopted in rubber compounding industry.

FAQ

1. What are the core differences between CIIR 1338 and regular butyl rubber (IIR)?

Compared with conventional butyl rubber, CIIR 1338 is chlorinated modified halobutyl rubber. It retains the excellent air tightness, low permeability and aging resistance of original butyl rubber, while solving the core defect of poor co-vulcanization with diene rubbers. It features faster vulcanization speed, better interfacial adhesion with natural rubber, SBR and other common rubbers, and higher compounding compatibility, which greatly expands its application scope in composite rubber products.

2. What is the advantage of the low-melting PE/EVA composite film packaging of CIIR 1338?

The exclusive low-melting PE/EVA composite packaging film is professionally customized for rubber compounding production. It does not need to be manually removed before mixing, and can be melted and integrated with rubber materials during high-temperature mixing. This effectively avoids material waste, secondary pollution and manual residue problems, greatly improving production efficiency and compound purity for downstream manufacturers.

3. What storage conditions are critical to maintain the performance stability of CIIR 1338?

To ensure stable physical and chemical properties within the 24-month shelf life, CIIR 1338 must be stored in a dry, clean and well-ventilated indoor warehouse. It is strictly prohibited to expose to direct sunlight, high humidity environments and chemical contaminants. Long-term outdoor stacking and contact with corrosive substances will cause aging, viscosity change and performance attenuation of the rubber.

4. Is CIIR 1338 environmentally friendly and safe for industrial production?

CIIR 1338 is a stable solid polymer material with non-toxic and harmless properties. It causes no adverse effects on human bodies, animals, plants and ecological environment under normal storage and production use. It complies with conventional industrial environmental protection standards. For detailed toxicological data, hazard identification and emergency disposal guidelines, please refer to the official product MSDS.

5. Does CIIR 1338 have good aging and weather resistance for outdoor sealing products?

Yes. CIIR 1338 has excellent ozone resistance, weather resistance and heat aging resistance. It can resist long-term outdoor ultraviolet irradiation, temperature change and atmospheric oxidation, and is not easy to crack, harden or age. It is very suitable for manufacturing outdoor sealing gaskets, vacuum hoses, damping parts and other products exposed to natural environments for a long time.
