Application
Used in the rubber product supplementary material, adhesive, ultraviolet absorber, dye, medicine, explosive material and so on.
It is used in the dye industry, plastic industry, medicine, rubber, etc. Resorcinol is mainly applied in rubber adhesives, synthetic resins, dyes, preservatives, medicine and analytical reagents, etc. Resorcinol is similar to phenol and methylphenol. It forms condensates with formaldehyde and can be used to make adhesive for viscose fibers and tire cord for nylon, prepare wood glues, be used for bonding vinyl materials and metals, and resorcinol is an intermediate for many azo dyes and fur dye, as well as a raw material for the pharmaceutical intermediate para-aminosalicylic acid. Resorcinol has a bactericidal effect and can be used as a preservative. It can be added to cosmetics and skin diseases ointments and creams. Derivatives of resorcinol such as β-methylumbelliferyl ketone are intermediates for optical bleaching agents, trinitroresorcinol is an initiating agent for detonators, and a considerable amount of resorcinol is used for the production of benzophenone-type ultraviolet absorbers. This product can stimulate the skin and mucous membranes and can be rapidly absorbed through the skin, causing poisoning symptoms.
