Chemical Name: Tetrabenzylthiuram disulfide

The chemical formula is C30H28N2S4, with a molecular weight of 544.82 and a CAS number of 10591-85-2.

This substance is in a solid state, with a melting point of 124°C and a boiling point of 687.0 ± 65.0°C (760 mmHg), and a density of 1.3 ± 0.1 g/cm³.

As an environmentally friendly rubber vulcanization accelerator, tetrabenzyl octylamine disulfide can replace TMTD (tetramethyloctylthioacetamide) and is applicable to rubber systems such as NR/SBR/EPDM/NBR, featuring long curing time and high processing safety . Its synthesis methods include the traditional process of reacting potassium compounds with di-benzyl thioaminoacetic acid esters, as well as the salt-free green synthesis process based on electrochemical oxidation coupling . This substance needs to be stored in a sealed environment at 2-8°C. Its safety hazard code is Xi, and the risk term R53 indicates potential long-term harm to water bodies.

Application

 

Developed to replace thiurams such as TMTD for the presence of nitrosamines is of concern The dibenzylnitrosamine is not carcinogenic according to published literature. It is the primary or secondary accelerator in NR, SBR and NBR system. It is safer to progress, and can provid longer anti-scorch time than TMTD. Sometime used as the retarder in the vulcanisation of PVC rubber.

Storage

 

The product should be stored in the dry and cooling place with good ventilation, avoid the packaged product to direct sunlight. The product with pallet should not be stacked. Stacking of palletized material or temperature of above 35οC can cause unusual compacted product. The validity is 2 years.
