Chemical Name: Tetramethyl thiuram disulfide

Accelerator TMTD (CAS 137-26-8), also known by names such as Dimethyl Tetrathiomalonate, Fumadone, Syrostan, or Accelerator TT, has the chemical name Dithiocarbamate of Tetramethylpyrazine. Its molecular formula is C6H12N2S4. It is a white or light gray powder or granular substance, odorless, with a density of 1.40-1.45, insoluble in water, slightly soluble in dilute alkali and gasoline, and soluble in organic solvents such as benzene, acetone, chloroform, and dithiocarbonane.

Properties

 

White or light gray powder(granule). The densityis 1.29. Soluble in chloroform, acetone, benzene, CS2; partly soluble in alcohol ,diethyl ethyl ether, CCL4, insoluble in water, gasoline and alkali with lower concentration. Be sensitive to skin and peogaster.

 

Application

 

Can be used as a single accelerator, as a secondary accelerator or as a sulphur donor in most sulphur-cured elastomers. Scorchy and gives fast cure rates. Produces an excellent vulcanisation plateau with good heat aging and compression set resistance. In sulphurless and EV cure systems. Good color retention is obtained in non-black vulcanisation. A valuable secondary accelerator for EPDM. May be used as a retarder in the vulcanisation of polychloroprene rubber with Accelerator ETU and also be used as bactericide and pesticide.

Storage

 

Keep container tightly closed in a cool, well-ventilated place. Awaiding exposure of the packaged product to direct sunlight. The recommended maximum storage life is 2 years when stored under normal conditions.

 

The primary processing wastewater of natural rubber contains a high amount of tetramethylcyclodisulfide (TMTD). The discharge of rubber cleaning wastewater is one of the main sources of TMTD pollution in the surrounding soil of rubber processing factories. A degradation strain Enterobacter bugandensis was isolated from the contaminated soil, which can efficiently degrade TMTD
