Rubber antioxidant 6PPD is an antioxidant and anti-oxidizing agent widely used in rubber tires. It belongs to the class of rubber additives known as para-phenylenediamine. It is applicable to both natural rubber and synthetic rubber and can effectively extend the service life of rubber products such as tires. It accounts for approximately 55% of the antioxidant market in China. However, 6PPD will transform into a highly toxic product, 6PPD-quinone, in the environment (such as through ozone oxidation, photolysis, or in soil). This substance has extremely high acute toxicity to aquatic organisms and may pose potential risks to human health, which has drawn widespread attention in the fields of environment and health.

Properties
The cinereus solid, the relative density 0.986-1.00, dissolve in the benzene, the acetone, the ethanoic acid, the ethyl acetate, the dichloroethane alkane and the toluene, does not dissolve in the water.
Application
6PPD is mainly used as a rubber antioxidant and is suitable for both natural rubber and synthetic rubber. It is widely applied in pneumatic tire components, solid tires, conveyor belts, rubber hoses, tapes, cables, automotive shock absorbers, rubber joints, and general rubber industrial products, providing protection.
In addition, 6PPD can also be used as a thermal oxygen stabilizer for polyethylene, polypropylene, and acrylic resins; and as a polymerization inhibitor in the production of styrene monomers, methyl styrene, divinylbenzene, and acrylate esters.
