Properties
With the relative density of 1.048, boiling point of 257-265oC and flash point of 126.6oC, it is slightly soluble in benzene, toluene, acetone, ethanol, carbon tetrachloride, ethyl acetate and gasoline. It is insoluble in water and dilute sodium hydroxide. It is nontoxic and will gradually deteriorate when exposed to light with using effects affected.
Application
This product is a very important variety among non-pollutant antioxidants and it ha a certain protecting effects against the heated oxidantion of the natural rubber, and synthetic rubbers such as buthl benzene, butylnitrile etc. It can be applied to the manufacturing of white, multi-colored, light, and transparent rubber products (such as rubber shoes and rubber cloth products). It can be easily dispersed in rubber materials. Because of its low toxicity, it can also be applied the manufacturing of pharmaceutical or sanitary products and to food processing.
Packaging
25kg N.W./bag, inplastic fabric laminated kraft bags lined with plastic bags.
Storage
The product should avoid sunshine.
Preparation Method:
Using p-cresol and tert-butanol as raw materials, they are added to a reaction vessel at a molar ratio of 1:1.1 and heated to dissolve. The reaction is carried out under vigorous stirring at 65–70°C with phosphoric acid as a catalyst. After the reaction is complete, the reaction product is first washed with a 10% sodium hydroxide solution until alkaline, then washed with water until neutral. The solvent is removed, and the product is recrystallized from ethanol to obtain the final product. An alternative method involves reacting isobutylene with p-cresol and concentrated sulfuric acid at 65–70°C. The reaction product is then subjected to washing, neutralization, and crystallization to obtain the final product.
