Physical and chemical properties

Sulfur pre-dispersed rubber compound S-80 is a rubber masterbatch prepared by pre-dispersing 80% sulfur and 20% polymers (such as ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber, acrylic rubber, etc.). It has a yellow appearance, with a specific gravity of 1.96 - 2.07 g/cm³ and a melting point of 112.8 - 119.3℃. It dissolves in carbon disulfide, carbon tetrachloride and benzene, is insoluble in water, and slightly soluble in ethanol and ether.

Product features

The S-80 has good dispersion properties, which can shorten the mixing time and has good compatibility with the rubber compound. It does not cause dust, which is beneficial for improving the working environment and facilitating automatic weighing operations. This material has low loss during the processing, which is conducive to maintaining stable quality between batches and helps reduce defective products and waste.

Use

Mode of action: S-80 is a curing agent for all natural and synthetic rubbers, requiring a quick incorporation in the mix and an excellent dispersion of the sulphur. Due to the homogeneous dispersion in the rubber the occurence of localized overcured zones is avoided. This is ensuring an improved resistance against ageing and dynamic fatigue. The good dispersion of sulphur is of particular advantage in soft compounds, where a complete distribution of the sulphur is often difficult to achieve.

Dosage

The dosage is the same as with non-elastomer-bound sulphur. A higher dosage according to the sulphur content is, due to the better dispersion, usually not necessary.

Application: Soft compounds: bright-coloured compounds that have to be free of sulphur stains, rubber articles which have to withstand dynamic stress.
